Ducati Manchester delivered our race bikes to Aragon, Spain on Friday night, and left our technicians working overnight to get the bikes un crated, and ready for track time on Saturday.... Initial tests of the bikes (in road trim) are very positive.... Our newly signed Moto 2 Rider Kev Coghlan commented " The bike handles really good, feels like a 600, nice and light. Motorcycling, the future or the past? EU third directive, UK motorcycle test, changes again in 2013!!

Is motorcycling a dying and ageing hobby for old people who want to get away form the wife'n'kids on a Sunday afternoon? Or is it the cheap congestion-busting method for the 17 year old, first-year med-school, uni student, who thinks that the increases in train prices are too much?

The elders usually say to me that when they did their test, it was a fat bloke, who would stand there with a fag in his mouth, flicking the ash onto a clipboard, and they rode around the block. If they come back, alive, the fat-bloke puts his cigarette out, and scribbles onto the clipboard, and you pass your test!

We've come a short distance away from that now; up until recently, there was a simple, one-part road test for motorcyclists, to determine whether they have the skill-set and mind frame to be legally allowed to be licensed to ride on the road.

The routine was, take the CBT course, and then the theory test, and then train up and off to the test centre.

This was then changed, to the current test. After the CBT and then theory, there are two parts of the test, called Module 1, and Module 2. Mod 1 is an off-road "assault course", and Mod 2 is the same as the usual test that they made redundant (minus the turn in road, and emergency brake).

The different types of licences and respective ages can be found here.

Of course, you can just stop at the CBT. They have made it rather complicated, and expensive, so now you may realise why so many commuters in the busier towns and cities ride around with L plates on!

The new two part test was criticised extensively, and yet it remains in force. Personally, it is the one that I did, and it is not easy. The fact that I did the DAS, and took the test on a 600cc machine helped. I did a practice run of the test on a 125cc (as you are expected to do, if you want to go for a restricted licence, or are under the age of 21) and it is almost impossible to get to the 31.2mph requirement safely, before slamming the brakes on (risking a skid!), for the emergency stop part of the test. BBC news did a good article on this, which can be found here.

And now they intend to change it yet again, making it more expensive, and a little more complex. Under the EU third directive, from 19th Jan 2013, the laws will change, and a 17 year old who can potentially drive a Mercedes Benz, or an Aston Martin with enough power to wake the dead up, has to wait 7 years before setting his/her rear end on a motorcycle saddle with an unrestricted licence. Maybe they should do the same with cars - limit driving licences, according to the licensee's age and the power output, or engine size of the car?!?!

Does it not seem like the government, or the powers that be, are slowly pushing motorcycles aside and to the brink of extinction? I don't want our younger generation grow into being accustom to getting stuck in traffic, or opting to pay a ridiculous amount for the train. Neither do most bikers.

Suns out, so are the bikers!!

Today is probably one of the first warm days we have had this year!!
Me, during last years season of warm tarmac!!
Glad my bike's back on the road - back to more hooligan antics.

Having had commuted through ANOTHER winter, I realise how hard it is, on riders, and their machines - hence why most of you all put your pride and joy away for the winter.
My starter motor packed in, giving all sorts of starting issues! Alongside that, a broken valve stem on my replacement bike!

Winter is the worst time for bikes, and bikers. Without a doubt, this guy is still my hero; I watch this video every year, to pluck up the courage to do it!

And remember, for all your motorcycle servicing needs, Hertfordshire Superbike Centre!
Based in Potters Bar, and we cater for riders in/around Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire, North London and further afield!

Rémy Martin Coeur De Cognac

This is a great Cognac from Remy Martin, that is intended to be as fruity and sweet as a luscious Georgia peach. The sweet yet smooth finish is a refreshing in comparison to the floral spicy notes of the classic Hennessy blend. The Cognac grading system may have been created by Maurice Hennessy in 1865, but Remy Martin is providing a new dynamic to a classic spirit.

The Remy Martin Coeur De Cognac has deep notes of rich fruit, marmalade, ginger, spice and cocoa. This Cognac boosts a well rounded and smooth palate, perfect for a good night cap. All of this smooth luscious fruity goodness can be yours for about $70 bucks. It may be hard to find but I promise that it's worth it. If you want something a little different in your bar then pick this up.

Some of these distinct design features such as blue-painted calipers, new multifunction ‘M’ seats and Mogello Red leather upholstery.

Both X-Series M vehicles retains the 4.4-litre twin turbo V8 of the previous model, putting out about 555 hp at 6,000 rpm and 502 ft-lb of peak torque between 1,500 and 5,650 rpm. This pushes the X5 M from 0-62 mph in about 4.5 seconds, with an estimated top speed of 155 mph. The X6 M does it in about 4.7 seconds. The X6 M is a little more fun to drive, besides the more aggressive stance. Both SAV's come with standard Adaptive Drive, air suspension, EDC, anti-roll bar and a braking system with 396 mm discs on the front and 386 mm at the back. Let's not forget the huge 20" M sport wheels.

There are plenty of aftermarket companies that are already working on upgrades for this vehicle. The twin-turbo V8 is a great platform to work with. There will be an abundance of options for the motorsports enthusiast to decide from. It's a fun vehicle with great potential to be a monster. Check out some more photos below and even a video. Only because we love you!

As part of this programme of events - here's a date for your diary and one not to be missed - 28th April 2012 - the 10th Annual Bristol Italian Automoto Festival - never been ? Here's whats in store.... we will meet at a central point and ride down to Gordano Services on the M5 to rendezvous with 100s of other italian bikes of all descriptions and then participate in a mass ride in, in to Bristol City Centre (the sound of 100s of Termignoni Systems bouncing off the walls of the tall buildings in the centre is a aural spectacle not to be missed!). The event is staged in the corn market area of the city and involves all the major and some lesser known italian motor manufactures of both 4 wheeled and two wheeled exotica, and is supported by all of the Owners Clubs - spend the day admiring Ducatis of all ages, MV's, Aprilias, Benellis, Moto Guzzi, aswell as 4 wheeled supercars such as Ferrari, Lamborghini, Maserati, Pagani, Alfa Romeo, and Lancia. There's a great choice of Bistros, Cafes and Restaurants to enjoy a spot of lunch and refreshment, followed by the ride home, where will try and get off the motorway and find some fun roads to enjoy on Bologna's finest!

We'll post more details shortly of the departure point and time - and it would be great if you could join us... All welcome!
