GPS for motorcycles can be used to communicate

GPS (Global Positioning System) is indispensable for those of you who like to explore on a motorcycle. Even more interesting GPS can be used as a means of communication along the way.

The product from Yucomtrack can be used for motorcycles, which can be placed on the motorcycle handlebars, wooow very interesting. and its more unique GPS can be used as a means of communication among users with a distance of 15 meters, and can facilitate communication when touring.

Oops almost forgot, Yeah GPS is commonly called the Moto-Navi, to charge the battery takes about 3 hours and can be used up to 8 hours.

Below is a way to connect the GPS to communicate:

1. Turn on the GPS that can be used as a signpost.

3 Honda CBR250R with unique modifications - Bangkok

For those of you lovers of Honda CBR250R with unique modifications, there are three versions of a modified CBR250R exhibited at the Bangkok International Motor Show to-32 (BIMS 2011). This is a modified racing version of the CBR250R Moriwaki, Kitaco and Mugen.

According to the third Honda CBR 250R racing version that appeared on the BIMS 2011 has been introduced since November 2010, and went on sale in Thailand in April. AP Honda said so far the demand for a third modified version of the CBR 250R is very high.

The third version can be ordered out of Thailand, but to be ordered or purchased through authorized Honda dealer. Three versions of the CBR250R has been fully resing exhaust, as well as grip-grip version of the sport, is also the seat has been made different.

Whatever Happened To All the big 2 Strokes ?




We are al familiar with the 125cc 2 strokes and even the odd 50cc scooter but as the title asks what happened to the big ones ?

It all depends on your age really.

I have a 200cc 2 stroke Triumph dating from 1916 , leather drive belt , 2 gears and no clutch just push and go and then knock it into neutral when you want to attempt to stop. 2 strokes have pretty much been around since day one of motorcycling.

What’s their advantage ?

Essentially a 2 stroke engine fires every revolution of the crank  ie 2 strokes of the piston one up ( the compression stroke ) and then one down (the power stroke )when the fuel and air is ignited. The passing of all the gasses is achieved by a set of holes in the side of the barrel which are opened and closed by the piston going up (allowing the crankcase to act as a induction chamber) and down so no need for valves as in a 4 stroke.
This makes for fewer components thus lighter weight and therefore cheaper production costs.

So why are large 2 strokes not being made ?

Well Sir they are , some of the largest and most efficient engines in the world are 2 stroke diesel and they slowly chugging around our oceans in some of the largest ships ever made and they are called cathedral engines for a reason ie they are massive.

2 stroke engines for the road however were banned in Europe and many parts of the world a while back. In 2005 I bought one of the last Aprilla RS 250’s outlawed for the sole reason of being a smoker !

A 2 stroke passes and compresses the fuel air mixture in the crankcase so there’s no oil in there . The lubrication for the crank , rods and piston comes from oil mixed into the fuel. This oil burns with the fuel and exits the engine as that well known 2 stroke haze. This is very polluting hence the ban back in the mid 2000’s.

The Rise of the big 2 stroke

Back in the 60,s MV Agusta used to win pretty much everything in formula one bike racing with their ultra exotic 4 cylinder 4 stroke bikes ( long before Mr Honda got in on the act ). Back then you could use a 750cc 4 stroke or a 500cc 2 stroke ( any bells starting to ring ?? ).

Fact was nobody could come up with a 2 stroke to match them until the venerable manufacturer of trains and rockets KAWASAKI produced the legendary 500cc triple known as the H1R later produced as road bike called the H1.
In their first season of racing with Ginger Malloy in 1968 ( as I recall ) they came second in the F1 championship and seeing the writing on the wall MV threw the towel in.

The rest is as they say history leading to many legends of the racetrack such as Barry Sheene famed for wrestling the Suzuki 750 triple which as with many of the bikes of this era had an engine far too powerful for the frame.

Sadly the banana benders in Brussels had their way and so one of the greatest thrills on a bike was lost. Sitting on a well tuned big 2 stroke waiting for the power to rush in when the pipes come on song is a real treat. Something I was reminded of when taking a Aprilla RS 125 out for a test ride . OK its not big but it’s a similar effect -FUN.

The large 2 stroke is pretty much dead for the road ( I have no doubt some manufacturers are working on ways round the problem ) but if you have a big 2 stroke sitting in the garage with a seized piston ( did I mention they did this a lot ? ) think about dragging it out and letting me play with it !!

Aftermarket Motorcycle Lamps and the MoT

As  an authorised examiner for class 1 and 2 vehicles ( that is motorcycles but not including the scooters with 2 wheels at the front ) I get a copy of the MoT magazine. Maybe not what you would readily read every day but the MoT affects pretty much all of us and is therefore of interest especially if you have modified your vehicle.

I have almost copied this article word for word but added some further words to explain more fully the items at issue.

LED replacement bulbs - are OK but at least half of the LEDs must illuminate . If not the lamp will fail for being "so damaged or deteriorated that its function is impaired".

Combination rear lamps -  these are the lamps which at the rear do away with the indicators . The rear red lamp then flashes orange on the left or right hand side when the indicators are on. This is a MoT fail and indeed illegal as for example half of the stop or tail light goes out when the indicators are switched on.
As far as I am aware these aftermarket lamps are not marked as such !

Flashing stop lamps - I have not seen these yet but when the rear brake light comes on it flashes quickly and then the rate slows to a solid light. These do not emit a steady light and are therefore a FAIL . Steady flashing lights for cars can be permitted but these are subject to strict type approval.

HID headlamps - If you fit a HID bulb kit to an existing lens and reflector then they are considered not to be legal as the way the light emits from the HID bulb is not compatible with the reflector and lens. You need to fit the HID headlamp with the HID bulb although " the lamp may still be required to have some form of self levelling system to be legal "

HOWEVER there is a difference between "legal" and passing a MoT and in either case there are no "reasons for rejection " in the testers manual in respect of HID headlamps providing of course the beam test is passed. So you may pass the MoT but the Police can take the bike off the road.

My advice as with many of these kind of items is that in the event of an accident ( disputed or not by the other side at the time) , if your machine is fitted with such equipment the insurers can use this as a means of not paying out or reducing the payment. Best check with them before fitting anything ( Ive heard they will get funny even with aftermarket mirrors ) . In fact ring them up anyhow , there are some very nasty bits of small print in some policies which can catch you out when you least expect it. If your bike wont pass a MoT then they ( and possibly the Police ) will deem your bike illegal and your in all sorts of trouble !
